After many years of dead end jobs and getting no where with the company that fired him (every lawyer we got was paid off by this particular company, they are a very wealthy company and have many resources) he came home from work in January of 2002 crawling through the front door. Where his back was broke, it had severed several of the nerves running into his legs. Only by the grace of God did he make it home that day. In June of 2002 he had spinal fusion surgery. After recouping from that he was retrained through Workers Compensation as a Dialysis Technician and hired at our local hospital. After working full time for about 18 months, he started having trouble again, his doctor and lawyer both agreed to take him down to working only 10 hours per week. We have fought with Social Security for 3 years trying to get him disability. We know people who have received their disability for much less severe injuries than my husband such as knee replacement, obesity (no medical reason either), car wrecks and all these people lead normal lives. My husband struggles just to get up in the mornings, he can no longer play with our two boys one of who is 10 and loves sports (my husband was once a very athletic person) the other is 4 and he can't even pick him up and hold him and he only weighs 29 pounds. My prayer request is, that if it is the Lord's will, he will receive his disability soon. We are on our second go around with SS and are into our second appeal. Please pray that the Lord will see fit to bless us with his disability. It is hard to hold a full time job and come home and do everything around the house including housework and yardwork (mowing, weedeating, etc.) I never complain to him, he already feels bad enough not being able to provide for his family, but as a woman, I am at my breaking point, one person can only handle so much. Please pray for me and my family. Thank you, Lisa

Lisa, this is a terrile situation, and my heart grieves for your family today. I can't imagine the pain that you feel to see your husband going through this. I will be kneeling before God's throne for you today, asking for His mercy on your life.
If you have time, I'd like to offer you an article to read which was posted here at CWO yesterday. It really encouraged me knowing that my sisters in Christ were fighting the battle alongside me as we will alongside you also. Here's the link (just copy and paste in your browser): http://www.christianwomenonline.net/2007/03/you-cant-have-her.html
Heavenly Father I pray that you will comfort Lisa and her husband, but more importantly give them some answers. Let their fight not be in vain. Father change the hearts of the SS people and give them the money they need.
Amen.
Lord of Heaven & Earth. I lift up Lisa to You this morning. Give her strength and peace; a peace that surpasses all human understanding. Lord, grant her husband disability.
I am trusting in Your mercy. In the precious name of Jesus ~ Amen

Your story sounds so similar to mine and I can honestly say, "I know exactly how you feel." My husband has had three back surgeries. After the last one, the doctor told him he better go ahead and file for SS because it takes a long time to get it approved. It took us two years and they turned us down twice. He was always able to work at some job after the first two surgeries, but this last one, he was told he better not try to work again. I, like you, had to take care of everything...mowing, weedeating, housework, grocery shopping, homeschooling, bills, etc.... One day I just broke into tears and told my hubby I just couldn't do it all and asked if he could please take over paying the bills as this was much added stress to me. He felt so bad about me having to do "his" yard work and everything else and gladly agreed to take over the bill paying. Maybe your husband would be able to oversee this for you. I will be praying for God to give you strength and that He will meet your family's needs. May God Bless you, Lisa! Links to this post: << Home
