Friday, November 23rd

This week, Sarah is hosting "In 'Other' Words" at her site, To Motherhood and Beyond. Sarah has chosen a quote by Elisabeth Elliott. With the busy holiday season upon us, this quote is timely...

This week's quote is:

"One reason we are so harried and hurried is that we make yesterday and tomorrow our business, when all that legitimately concerns us is today. If we really have too much to do, there are some items on the agenda which God did not put there.  Let us submit the list to Him and ask Him to indicate which items we must delete.  There is always time to do the will of God.  If we are too busy to do that, we are too busy."

~ Elisabeth Elliott ~

This week, Allison is hosting "In 'Other' Words" at her site, Simple Christian Living. Allison has chosen a quote from James L. Christensen about facing difficulty...

This week's quote is:

"The purpose of Christianity is not to avoid difficulty, but to produce a character adequate to meet it when it comes. It does not make life easy; rather it tries to make us great enough for life."

Friday, October 26th

This upcoming week, "In 'Other' Words" will be hosted by Debbie at Chocolate and Coffee. Debbie chose an awesome quote about the Bible--the whole Bible--by A. W. Tozer. (It's Debbie's first week hosting, by the way) :)

And, ladies, if you haven't seen the new addition to CWO yet, I'd like to invite you to check out our post-it notes, which is now part of the CWO blogroll. If you have an upcoming contest, book/CD release, give-away, special guest or other announcement at your blog, that you’d like to share. You can post it there for fellow blogroll members to read. (It's also a great place to find a few giveaways!) You can click here to find it...

Without further ado, here is this weeks quote...

This week's quote is:

"The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection.  And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian."

~ A.W. Towzer ~

Friday, September 21st

This upcoming week, "In 'Other' Words" will be hosted by Lori over at I Will Take it Lord, All You Have To Give. It's her first time hosting with us, so let's give her a warm welcome. :)

Lori has chosen a verse from a hymn written in 1922 by Helen Limmel, saying, "I have been drawn to these words for some time now...so much so that they are a part of my blog....each day..." The quote reminds us to refocus on that which is most important, which is more then just the here and now...

This week's quote is:

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in HIS wonderful face,
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, by the light of His glory and grace."

~ Helen Limmel ~

Also, I have a new column here at CWO if you'd like to check it out this weekend, ladies. It's called "Live Well!"

"Live Well!" inspires women to make healthier choices that result in losing weight, maintaining a healthy body, and getting our lives on track with God.

Now, here's Laurel's quote...

This week's quote is:

"The worth and excellency of a soul is to be measured by the object of its love."
Henry Scougal (The Life of God in the Soul of Man ), quoted by John Piper in The Pleasures of God

Saturday, September 1st

With Friday being the last day of the month, I was so distracted with getting the new issue of CWO up, that I forgot to post the quote. Sorry again for the delay!

This upcoming week, "In 'Other' Words" will be hosted by Christine of Fruit in Season. Christine has chosen a quote about prayer.

This week's quote is:

"Praying is no easy matter.  It demands a relationship in which you allow someone other than yourself to enter into the very center of your person, to see there what you would rather leave in darkness, and to touch there what you would rather leave untouched.  Why would you really want to do that?"

Friday, August 24th

This upcoming week, "In 'Other' Words" will be hosted by Loni over at Joy in the Morning. Loni has chosen a quote by Kay Arthur about battling against the flesh, and the victory we find through the power of God. It is based on the scripture found in Exodus 17:15.

And ladies, we are returning to our regular schedule, so quotes will be posted here every Friday as they were before the summer break.

This week's quote is:

"Under the banner of God, victory is always assured; but apart from it, defeat is a certainty.  When the banner of God's rod was not held high, Amalek prevailed.
You can't do battle against the flesh under your own power."

"Until you settle the issue of your own worth, it's impossible to bring holiness into anyone else's life.  Until you understand that your worth is already determined by the fact of your birth, everything else is an exercise in propping up a dying tree."

This upcoming week, "In 'Other' Words" will be hosted by Christine of Fruit in Season . Christine has chosen a quote by C.S. Lewis.

This week's quote is:

"Every time you make a choice you are turning the central part of you, the part of you that chooses, into something a little different from what it was before... either into a creature that is in harmony with God, ...or into one that is in a state of war with God.  Each of us at each moment is progressing to the one state or the other."

This upcoming week, "In 'Other' Words" will be hosted by Laurel Wreath. Laurel has chosen a quote from Tim Dearborn which just may stretch your mind, but Laurel simplifies it by saying, "Church exists because of missions, not the other way around."

Friday, March 9th

This week, I'll be hosting "In 'Other' Words" over at my blog, "Darlene Schacht.com"

I've chosen a quote from Liz Curtis Higgs' book, Rise and Shine. These two minute devotionals whisper gentle words of encouragement that move me to a place where I stand, before the eyes of the Lord--just He and I. I've had devotionals before, but I've never had one that made me feel quite as valuable to God.

Liz understands the pressures we feel to look thin, stay young, and live harmoniously with our spouse, and addresses these concerns with the warmth of her humor and wisdom. Believing that there's a radiant woman inside each one of us, Liz lends a hand in drawing her out, and encourages us to find our source of joy in the Lord and Him only.

This week's quote is:

"One of the secrets to a happy marriage is remembering the source of our joy, which is not one another. The source of our joy is the Lord. Yes, we share tons of joyous moments, but we don't expect, let alone demand, endless joy-filled moments from each other. "
~ Liz Curtis Higgs ~

This upcoming week, "In 'Other' Words" will be hosted by Loni over at Joy in the Morning. Loni has chosen a quote from Richard Cecil--about God's greater concern for us than our own...

This week's quote is:

"We are urgent about the body; He is about the soul. We call for present comforts; He considers our everlasting rest. And therefore when He sends not the very things we ask, He hears us by sending greater than we can ask or think."

Friday, February 2nd

This week, "In 'Other' Words" will be hosted by Iris (eph 2810) over at Sting my Heart. Iris is flattering me this week by choosing a quote from my own book, The Mom Complex. It's about getting pulled away from the Lord by the cares of the world. Truth is, I don't remember writing it, maybe she saw it on a cereal box...

This week's quote is:

"I long to worship Jesus with the heart of a child, in a state of pure and true adoration. Yet so many things of the world cloud my thoughts and pull on my heart until it's no longer just a girl in the arms of the Father"
~ Darlene Schacht ~
