Alicia, "Faithful Chick"

Alicia (Faithful Chick) is a wife and mother of three young boys. She left her corporate career in 2004 to be a stay-at-home mom. Everyday is filled with adventure and challenges of faith for the only chick in a house full of boys! Although she was raised in a Christian home, she did not fully commit to a relationship with Christ until her late 20’s. She has a powerful testimony of how God’s grace and mercy can restore a tattered soul. She is a work-in-progress, learning and living out her faith in authentic ways each day.

How long have you been blogging, and what is your URL?
I have been blogging since July of 2007, my site is: www.faithfulchick.typepad.com/

If we could generalize for a moment, what is the topic or topics you find yourself writing about the most?
Most of my posts reflect the ways I am living out my faith each day. I love to post about girly-things and fun family moments, but my passion comes out when I share my faith victories and struggles.

What or who prompted you to start blogging?
I was on the Living Proof Ministries website one day and clicked on Beth and Amanda Moore’s blog. I enjoyed reading their posts and noticed the strong sense of community on the comment pages. After surfing through many blogs, I jumped right in and started Faithful Chick.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging? If so, tell us about that experience.
I have met so many wonderful women through blogging. God even performed a miracle in my real life through my blog! A few months after I started blogging, I had a health scare and they found a tumor in my shoulder. During my quiet time one day, I thought of a blog I had been reading for some time and remembered that the author's husband had worked at a hospital where I needed to be evaluated. After a few emails and a phone conversation, they put me in touch with the physician that would later perform my tumor removal surgery. I still get chills when I think about how my blog connected me to the right surgeon. God’s ways are amazing!

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
My posts about daily life and funny moments usually only take a few minutes. I spend more time on my posts about faith so I can reference scripture and have some quiet time for reflection.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
I currently write for my blog only. I do maintain private blogs for my family and our Sunday school class.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
I love spending time outdoors with my family. My husband and I love date nights and weekend getaways. When I can break away, I love to go to a movie with my girlfriends and hang out at the coffee shop afterwards. I enjoy painting and drawing and wish I had more time for them. My husband and I lead a Sunday school class for married couples and I lead a women’s Bible study group on Wednesday nights.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
I have not struggled with keeping my blog up, but I did struggle early on with limiting my blog reading time. I loved reading so many of them, and was so blessed and encouraged by the posts, that I would lose track of time. As a busy mom, I cannot afford to get lost in blog-land for too long. I decided to come up with a manageable list of blogs and add them to a reader. Each day, I allow myself about 15-20 minutes to read those blogs. If I have extra time on the weekend, I will surf around and read more posts.

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
I consider myself to be a living, breathing example of the new creation mentioned in this verse: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new had come! -2 Corinthians 5:17 Praise God!

Brooke, "Bluestocking"

Brooke or Bluestocking is an attorney in New Jersey. Her practice focuses mainly on education law, but she does criminal, wills & estates, small claims, etc. . She is a member at Tenth Presbyterian who participates in the church's women's choir, volunteers in the two year old nursery, and mentors a sixth grader in the Secret Sister mentoring program.

How long have you been blogging, and what is your URL?
I've been blogging since May 2006. My URL is:
The Bluestocking Guide

If we could generalize for a moment, what is the topic or topics you find yourself writing about the most?
My blog is all about things books. Primarily I review the books I  have been reading. I also post publishing news for books, write essays on various literary topics, and keep track of author birthdays.

What or who prompted you to start blogging?
I am a voracious reader, but more than that I am a literature
snob. I'm not into pop literature. I want books with character  development and plots and subplots and ingenuity in the story telling.  Most book review blogs either tend to deal with cookie cutter books or  end up becoming online journals that seldom review books.  It makes finding a really good book to read a challenge.  I figured there are probably other people out there who are looking for a good read but are having a difficult time finding anything. So I created a blog that just deals with books and book related items.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging? If so, tell us about that experience.
I think most of the people who drop by my blog are friends and friends of friends. The blog mostly spreads by word of mouth.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
Each book review takes about an hour or two. The essays
take between 2-4 hours. I try to give readers enough to make an informed decision as to whether they want to read or purchase a certain book.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
My blog is also registered with Metaxu Litblog network. So my weekly reviews do end up in the headline sections. I have posted my essays there as well so those are on the "front page" so to speak. I do have a personal blog but that's really for close friends and family.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
I'm a health and fitness aficianado!  I work out 5 days a week. I love swing dancing, Latin dancing, and kickboxing (thought I haven't done this in a while). The accomplishment of which I am most proud is that I earned an award for Outstanding Service in Domestic Violence while in law school. I worked with victims of Domestic Violence at the local courthouse to help them get restraining orders against their
abusers.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
My biggest struggle with blogging is my job. As an attorney my day is loooonnnggg!! So I decided within the first couple of months to limit myself to a book a week. Fortunately I am not under the constraint of finishing a book a week because I own and have read enough books thus far that I have about Five years of material to review without  having to  buy any new books to read.

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
Be not conformed to this world; be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.  Romans 12:2.   My pastor picked this verse when I became a member of the church. I like this verse because I have found that as a Christian woman there is a lot of pressure put on you to fit into a certain mold. I have found it easy to lose sight of the
fact that as a Christian I'm called to be transformed by God's grace and called to show the perfect will of God in whatever situation He has placed me- which in my case is as a single female attorney.

Keeping this verse in mind has helped me appreciate how much more I am able to help people in need because I am an attorney.

Sue at "These are a Few of
My Favorite Things"

After spending most of her adult life as a preK teacher in Hawaii, Sue is now using her knitted designs to touch others with God's love. She is a mother to 2 adult sons and 2 teenage stepdaughters. She is also a grandma to 3 grandsons and a new grand-daughter. When not designing, Sue enjoys sharing her thoughts and ideas on her personal blog.

How long have you been blogging, and what is your URL?
I started blogging shortly after I had a major life change in '05. I found it to be a way for me to 'work out' the changes I was going through. My url is:
http://knit1-purl2.blogspot.com

If we could generalize for a moment, what is the topic or topics you find yourself writing about the most?
I am usually sharing how or what I'm learning as I walk the Christian walk. Because I think of myself as a teacher, my posts usually have some kind of teaching in them.

What or who prompted you to start blogging?
When I was a prek teacher, I set up a web page for the children and parents to go to for information on everything from lesson plans, to activities to do together, to how to contact me. It was when I moved and was no longer teaching that I returned to the computer to communicate my thoughts and ideas. That's when I found blogspot.com. It was really so easy to set up an account and then to use.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging? If so, tell us about that experience.
Because of my design company Harvest Moon, many of the ladies who purchase the patterns go to my personal blog to find out 'who I really am'. I've met some lovely ladies via the blog. We've shared ideas and stories and prayers for each other, family members, and things that are happening in each of our parts of the world.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
When I write, I usually don't think too much. I want the words to flow as my thoughts do. Sometimes I just want to share a hymn or a song that means something special to me at that time. At other times, I will spend and hour clarifying exactly what I'm feeling. This usually helps me more that the reader.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
Yes. My design company Harvest Moon Designs

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
As a prek teacher I received educational grants that were used in my teaching. I also had my preschool curriculum plan reckonized in the Smithsonian as an up and coming program for the Armed Services YMCA.

I also love to knit and to design knitted patterns.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
I really haven't had any problems with my personal blog, but on my design blog I did experience a struggle with it being reported as a spam site. It did take about 3 weeks to get worked out, but from what I understand it was some kind of 'robot' deal. I actually had to wait until a 'human' took a look at the blog to realize it was a legitamate blog.

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?

Proverbs 3: 3 & 4:

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
       bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.

Christelle, "Beloved MaMa"

Christelle’s soul desire is to learn to be more like Christ each and every day, to learn to have compassion for those who Christ loves, to serve the way Christ served, and to love the way He loves. She states “With such a big goal, I often fall short, however, that is where GRACE falls in to place”.

In 1997, Christelle married the son of a preacher who grew up as a missionary kid in Nairobi, Kenya. Despite a rocky start, both in their dating years and early in their marriage, together they have learned the true meaning of “all things work together for good to those who love God”. Christelle loves dates with her hubby that include going to restaurants with an international flair and listening to the wonderful stories that her husband has to tell.

Christelle believes that her greatest job is as a MaMa to 3 beautiful boys who love soccer (like their daddy), and playdates with their friends. She is also a Mama to 2 blessings from above who went to be with Jesus before they were born into this world.

Christelle enjoys coffee with friends. She loves meeting new people and learning about all of the wonderful things that make them unique. Before moving to the Northwest, Christelle served as the director of Women’s Ministries in her home church and as a sectional director within her local area. She loves seeing women develop the gifts that God has given to them and to see the body of believers work together in sharing the hope we have in Christ.

How long have you been blogging, and what is your URL?
I have been blogging since August of 2007. My URL is http://belovedmama.blogspot.com/

What is the topic or topics you find yourself writing about the most?
My blog portrays my inner most passions which include my family, life as a mama to 3 young boys and issues that hit at the heart and soul of women. My blog has taken the place of the journal writing that I have always done so I also include prayers to my Father, personal reflections and Bible verses that I am dwelling on. I also like to include a fun contest every so often and share holiday ideas with fellow bloggers.

What or who prompted you to start blogging?
Several years ago my family and I made a rather large move- many miles away from my closest friends and family and away from a ministry that I was extremely passionate about... soon after our move, we went through some rather difficult times, including 2 miscarriages, several hospital stays, financial struggles, and I began to suffer with anxiety and depression. Journal writing has always served as a way for me to process my thoughts and emotions as well as a method of crying out to my Father above. From the moment I started blogging I prayed that God would use my writing for His purpose and glory. My blog has become my way of doing Women's Ministry online and has taken the place of much of my journal writing. Beloved MaMa reflects the pages of my heart.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
I have reconnected with several friends who are now bloggers and frequently visit several wonderful blogs.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
Issues that I am sorting out with God can sometimes take several days as I often draft out my basic thoughts on a subject, pray over it, work through it, read scripture pertaining to it, and finally post what I feel God is trying to teach me. Prayers, reflections, and entries about my family usually only take a few minutes.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
I serve on a rotational basis as a host for Tuesday's "In 'Other' Words." I often take part in several Memes including "Thankful Thursday" and "Wordless Wednesday." :0)

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
I am a creative thinker and my interests reflect that. I have had fun being an extra in a commercial and have tried out for several local extras casting calls. I have been a stage mama for my boys and their TV/movie rolls. I love the creativity that I have been able to use in Women's Ministries as well as the networking aspect that is involved. I love putting together playgroup themes for the playgroup I attend at church with my 18 month old son. I enjoy reading and writing. I enjoy international cuisine and learning about cultures around the world. I have a passion for missions and hope to one day travel overseas.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
My only struggle with blogging is making sure that I don't spend TOO much time online. I am learning to balance my time wisely.

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
Paul said, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12–14

Florence
"Destructive Emotions"

Florence MacKenzie lives in Scotland where she works as a Teaching Fellow in the School of Psychology at Aberdeen University. She is married to James and together they founded the internet-based Christian ministry, Equipped for Living (www.equippedforliving.org). Florence is a member of her church's teaching team and she has spoken at Christian women's conferences at home and abroad. She is also a published author, her most recent book being Destructive Emotions: Facing Up to Guilt, Fear and Anger.

Florence has one adult daughter, Laura, and a black and white English springer spaniel puppy called Rowan. He helps keep her fit by insisting she takes him out for "walkies" every day! When she's not involved in teaching, writing, or walking Rowan, Florence LOVES to shop!

How long have you been blogging, and what is your URL?

I'm a new girl on the block as far as blogging is concerned, having just started at the end of November 2007. My site is Destructive Emotions.

What is the topic or topics you find yourself writing about the most?
At the present time, I'm writing about guilt, particularly the different types of false guilt that we so often find ourselves experiencing. I hope eventually to move on to writing about fear, anxiety and worry - and also anger.

What or who prompted you to start blogging?
Following the release of Destructive Emotions my publisher provided the opportunity for me to have my own weblog and created one for me. As a writer, I'm always on the look-out for opportunities to hone my craft and blogging is an effective way to do this. One of the plus points of blogging is that it allows for interaction with readers in a way that doesn't normally happen in a traditional writing context.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
Yes, following my recent draw for some signed copies of my book (advertised on CWO), some women got in touch, including a senior high school teacher of psychology who was involved in developing a module on emotions. It was exciting to have that professional connection in addition to the bond that unites us as Christian women.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
A lot depends on whether I'm writing a light-hearted post or something that demands more concentration. I like to plan out several posts in advance, not necessarily writing them in their finished format, but having some kind of structure that links one post to the next.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
Yes, I write for our ministry website, Equipped for Living. I write the monthly e-quipped messages and James writes the Coffee-breaker series of 15-minute Bible studies. We also write articles for our quarterly online magazine, Equipped4living.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
I'm interested in interior design and was a distance-learning student with the Academy of Fine Arts in London, England. I was able to put what I'd learned to good use when James and I had the opportunity of designing our present home. Great fun!

Last year, I was delighted to be nominated by my university students for the British Psychological Society's Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Psychology. Although I didn't win the award, my students' faith in me was a great confidence booster!

What struggle, if any, have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
I suppose the main struggle is being sufficiently disciplined in publishing regular posts. I aim to post about twice every week but, like most people, have to juggle this commitment with a hundred-and-one other worthwhile interests and responsibilities!

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
How about Philippians 4:6, 7? "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." (NLT)

Carol Hatcher
"Sheep to the Right "

Carol Hatcher is a wife, mother, teacher and writer. She taught elementary school for six years and traded being called “Mrs. Hatcher” for “Mommy.” When her son was born, Carol joined the ranks of stay-at-home moms across the world. She and her husband, Alan, live in Buford, Georgia. Her two children, Colin and Faith, provide her with much inspiration for writing and keep her laughing. Carol combines her southern humor with her love for Jesus to share how we can learn from our everyday experiences and grow closer to God. Her passion is to challenge others to be bold for Christ by saying, “Use me, Lord” each and every day.

What is the title of, and where can we find your blog?
My blog is called sheep to the right. I have lots of raised eyebrows and questions about the name of my blog. It comes from a passage of scripture in Matthew 25 where it says when the Lord comes back, He’ll separate the sheep from the goats.  He’ll direct the sheep to the right and the goats to the left.  The sheep will inherit the kingdom of heaven. The goats will-- let’s just say they will not.  I want to be a sheep.  Read Matthew 25 for yourself to find out where you fit in.

Find me at Sheep to the Right

What is the topic or topics that you find yourself writing about the most?
Let’s see… I have written about everything from eating at McDonald’s to vacuuming for Jesus. I would say that I write about how we can find Jesus every day. There are so many little lessons and stories that happen around us constantly that we can relate back to the Bible. My goal in writing is to share with others my personal experiences in a way that motivates them to grow closer to our Lord. As my good friend Amy once put it, “I want to slosh out Jesus on everyone I meet.”  Don’t we all?  Can I get an “AMEN?”

What or who prompted you to start blogging, and when did you start?
I was visited by the blogging fairy who told me “You will have a blog and its name will be sheep to the right.”  Just kidding.  Without trying to sound like a “Sunday school” answer, God did.  He inspired me to start writing. I began just writing devotions and saving them on my computer.  I visited the websites of a couple of authors I liked and realized that most all writers had some type of blog. I knew that by having a blog, I could be constantly honing my craft. I only started blogging in August of 2007.  It’s hard to believe, but I’ve only been doing this six months! It is amazing the doors God has opened in that time.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
Absolutely.  Other women come to my site and comment on my posts, and I go and visit their sites.  Most of these ladies I have never met, but I feel like I know them. I worry when they don’t blog.  Are they sick?  Are they on a blogging fast?  Where are they?  Some of my bloggy friends are from my Sunday school class at church. There was a blogging frenzy for a while and lots of people started them. One of our Sunday school members moved to a land far, far away. But we still keep up through the blog.  It’s great.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
Well, that depends on how you define time. Actual computer time, I may only spend about half an hour or so. Thinking about the post before I ever get to the computer takes a little longer.  Sometimes I’m really inspired and can write one quickly. Other times, I have to sit and think on it a couple of days.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
Yes. I write for Faith Lifts, a devotional website for moms.
I am a writer and the coordinator for Midweek Motivations on Writer Interrupted.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
I love to eat chocolate. (Is that a hobby?)  I love to shop for bargains. I’m an avid reader. I used to scrapbook, but I just can’t find the time for it anymore.  I’ve recently taken up running.  It helps to balance out the eating chocolate hobby.  Last year, I ran my first 5K. This year I’m hoping to run a 10K.  Start praying for me now!

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
Sometimes I feel the need to post because a couple of days have passed with no new posts, but I don’t really feel the Lord laying on my heart anything to share. Then sometimes I have so much I want to say, but don’t have the time to do so. My three-year-old daughter and I have lots of tea parties and make-overs. Those can be very time consuming, you know.

What are some of your favorite blogs?
I love so many of them!
A Planting of the Lord – I’ve only met Kimberly through blogging, but she has quickly become one of my favorites.

Boo Mama – Okay, everybody loves Boo Mama. When you need a little lift, you’ll find yourself cracking up at whatever she has to say.

Signs, Miracles, and Wonders – This is my good friend Amy.  She is my sidekick – or maybe I’m her sidekick!

Lots of my other personal friends have sites that I read every day.  Check out my blog roll to get the rest of their links.

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your
heart?
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
This is my life verse.  I tend to worry about the details of things and God is continually telling me to chill out and focus on Him.  He’ll take care of the rest.

Is there anything that you'd like to add in closing?
In the past year, God has completely changed my life. I’ve been a Christian for 23 years, but it was the last one that has blown me away. I uttered three life-changing words to the Lord and honestly meant them – Use me, Lord.  Friends, I can’t even begin to tell you the journey He has taken me on since then.  I encourage you to consider where you are in your walk and ponder, “Are you using God to get by every day?” or “Are you being used by God?”  Come by and visit my flock at sheep to the right!

Laurie Adams
"Women Taking a Stand "

Laurie Adams has been married to her high school sweetheart for the past 26 years. Laurie and Clayton have four wonderful children, whom all are serving the Lord: David, age 25; Jeremy, age 21; Jordan, age 17 and Anna Marie, age 12. They live in West Memphis, AR where they serve on staff as Associate Pastors at First Assembly of God Church. For the past three years Laurie has operated her own cleaning service business, Heaven Scent Cleaning Services.

Laurie, who recently reunited with her birth Father after 40 years of separation, takes her testimony and shares it with women. Her testimony is of love, forgiveness and reconciliation. Laurie has a heart of passion to help women who have scars from their past to PRAY past the pain. In addition to Laurie’s blog, she created and maintains a prayer support forum and teaches Women Bible Studies.

What is the title of, and where can we find your blog?
My blog is WOMEN TAKING A STAND

What is the topic or topics that you find yourself writing about the most?
My blog posts are weekly devotions. Topics of the devotions are about situations and problems that women face… giving them hope in the Word and encouragement to stand firm and keep their faith.

What or who prompted you to start blogging, and when did you start?
I only recently started blogging, I fell into this whole craze of blogging after realizing that several women who are on the web have a heart to grow in the Word but have so little time to actually attend a study or even read their Bible. Blogging is just putting a new tool in their hands that is quick and easy to connect not only with other women but with God. I love posting God’s Word on my blog, His Word speaks so much clearer than any words I can use. And for some women that may be the only Word of God they hear or read.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging? If so, tell us about how you met some of them.
I have made some great new friends. Many of whom I have never met. My initial connection was with the women of my church and some very close friends. But so many of them have told their co-workers and their family members about my blog, that now I have friends from all over the states checking in on my blog page.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
I put a lot of prayer and studying into the devotion that I post each week on the blog. Many times it starts with a thought or a word… I chew on it for a few days and ALWAYS God gives me a clear direction by the end of the week. It never fails, if I pray and ponder on it for several days, when it is time to sit down and write it out, the words just flow.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
I created and act as the administrator of a PRAYER SUPPORT FORUM, also with the name WOMEN TAKING A STAND. This forum is an interactive forum which includes a weekly devotion, and daily scripture readings. Also there is a forum for prayer needs, for ladies to post their prayer needs and for the members of the forum to unite together and stand in the gap for one another. There is also a separate Military prayer list and a Cancer Prayer list: Names are added to this list so members of the forum can call out their names daily. The link to this forum is www.wmfirstassembly.org/forum and is open to any prayer warrior to join.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
Camping and hiking with my family. Eating out with my husband. Shopping with my daughter. Visiting my Son who is in the Air Force any possible time I can! Cheering for my Son and daughter at their ballgames. Attending and assisting my husband with Christian Education Training Seminars.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
Finding time. I committed prior to starting this blog that I would make a schedule for it. Too many times I see people start things and then not keep it going. Or worse than that – not put any thought or time into it. I wanted to offer women something that they could use, and something they could depend on. So in order to maintain the blog and the devotions, I have a deadline to have the devotion written and posted.

What are some of your favorite blogs?
I do not really have favorite ones. I have some personal family ones I like to follow. My senior Pastor at my church has one that has some great teaching:
www.pastorrustysblog.blogspot.com

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
“What is impossible with men is possible with God”
~
LUKE 18:27

Is there anything that you'd like to add in closing?

David Phelps sings it the best:
“If that isn’t Love…
the oceans are dry…
There’s no stars in the sky..
 And the sparrow can’t fly…
 If that isn’t love…
 Then heaven is a myth…
There is no feeling like this.
 If that isn’t love.

God’s love encompasses everything and is the very reason we breathe. I can’t imagine one day, one moment, one breath without God.

Linda, "Spilt Milk "

Linda is a real Orange County housewife who drives an 11 year old car and doesn't have the local day spa on speed dial. She has been married nearly 20 years and has four children, a girl 14, and three boys, 11, 6, and 4. She enjoys sharing her humor through speaking to mom's groups and her debut book with Zondervan Publishing is set for release next year. Her book is a humorously, unconventional, spiritual journey for busy moms. She also teaches a "mommy and me" gym class part-time. One of her most difficult life hurdles is trying to keep her gray hair from showing though her highlights. (This will be the intro to your interview, so write this one in the third person.)

How long have you been blogging, and what is your URL?
I started blogging in the summer of 2007 under the title,
Spilt Milk

What is the topic or topics you find yourself writing about the most?
I enjoying making people laugh. My posts cover a gamut of funny topics which are often self-deprecating and unconventional.

What or who prompted you to start blogging?
I attended a writer's conference in April 2007 where many writers shared their blogs. I wanted to try blogging as a springboard for my writing ideas. Blogging for a writer is like piano scales for a pianist. It is great practice.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
While most of my readers are friends of mine, I have also been blessed with new friendships through the blogging world. I find that many women share my same concerns, malfunctions, and mishaps, which is refreshing!
If so, tell us about that experience.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
Normally I spend a couple hours deciding what I am going to post, and forty minutes typing and editing. With four children, I have become very fast at typing.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
I have been published on the MOPS website a few times.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
I am an avid jogger. Most of my ideas come to me while I am jogging. It is in this quiet time, when God speaks most clearly to me. I am excited about publishing my first book with Zondervan in April, 2009.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
I struggle with posting every day and trying to always be funny. I may have people pleasing issues.

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
I cling to John 15:5 which I switch up a bit to become more personal, "If a man [Linda] remains in me and I remain in him [Linda] he [she] will bear much fruit, apart from me he [she] can do nothing."

Melissa, "Touch of Glory"

Melissa is a wife of 8 years and mommy to two precious children, a daughter, age 5, and a son, age 3. In addition to that full-time job, she is also a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). She grew up in a small town and was saved at age 21 after attending a country church with her mother's entire family while growing up. She and her husband were recently led to visit and eventually join another church in their community where they felt they could better serve the Lord. She sings in the choir and on a praise team, they teach 5 year olds in a TeamKid class on Wednesday nights, and they are involved in the Upward Basketball/Cheerleading ministry.

What is your blog?
My blog is called Touch of Glory because of a Karen Peck song. She sings that when you find yourself at the end of your rope, all you need is an "ounce of hope, a measure of faith, a touch of glory, and a taste of grace."

What topics do you find yourself writing about the most?
I find myself writing about a variety of things. Kids, career... many times lately I've looked to daily devotionals and Bible study for guidance and God has given me amazingly clear answers. I love to blog about that!

What or who prompted you to start blogging, and when did you start?
When my family and I began attending our church, I went to our pastor's blog to learn more about him and the church. I was linked to other church members' blogs, and I loved reading their thoughts. In November 2007, I was at home sick with strep throat, and while I was laying around reading blogs, I thought, "I can do this!" And the rest is history!

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
I have strengthened friendships with women that I was acquainted with at church but didn't know really well. I have also developed an online community of friends through others' blogrolls and through comments on my blog. I love coming home from work and finding that someone new has checked out my blog and enjoyed it!

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
It depends on the topic. Sometimes I like to write a quick post about something funny the kids have done or something that happened at work. Other times, when God has shown me something specific through a devotional or Bible study or answered a prayer, I like to share those thoughts with scripture and the specific devotions as well.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
I don't currently write for any other blogs or websites, however, being in the healthcare field, I would love to eventually write an article sharing my thoughts about women's health issues or something similar.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
My husband and I are very involved in the Upward Basketball/Cheerleading ministry with our daughter who is in kindergarten. If you've never been involved in this awesome ministry or don't have it in your community, check it out at Upward.org. I just got my first set of golf clubs! My husband and kids play, so I'm going to get involved because it's something we can all do together. I am an avid reader - Karen Kingsbury is my favorite and one I highly recommend! I also love to sing, and one of my fondest memories was when I had the opportunity to sing with The Mike Speck Trio at two of their bookings three years ago when his soprano had laryngitis. It was incredible and a dream come true!

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
There are nights when I come home from work after a long day, the kids need my attention, and I'm just too tired to blog. I try to write something every day, even if it's brief. I often find myself spending too much time on the computer reading other blogs. At first, there was a bit of insecurity. I worried if I had several visits and few comments. But I don't worry much about that now. People are visiting, and I pray that they take something with them that touches them.

What are some of your favorite blogs?
If I read a blog that really touches me, inspires me, or makes me laugh, I add it to my blogroll. My absolute favorites are there. Check it out!

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
There are actually three verses that I go to when I'm worried or need reassurance. My favorite is Psalm 46:10. "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth." I also like Proverbs 16:3-4, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. The Lord works out everything for his own ends." And Philippians 4:6-7 is a passage that I go to often. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

I would like to invite you to visit my blog, and to leave comments and suggestions. I love "meeting" new readers. And, I actually have a prayer request. On Tuesday, February 5th, our county was hit by an F3, nearly F4, tornado. Many homes and businesses were destroyed, and three lives were lost. My mother-in-law has extensive damage to her home, and we aren't sure if it can be salvaged. Please remember our community when you pray! God Bless!

Buffi, "The Youngs"

Buffi comes to us from Madison, AL where she and Mark, her husband of 13 years, live. Buffi is the proud mother of three beautiful children, Sophie, Silas & Sadie. Sadie is the newest addition, fresh from China.

Their adoption journey has really challenged and molded Buffi in ways that she could never imagine. It has been an amazing faith journey so far, and she looks forward to many new experiences in all that the Lord is going to do through their family.

Buffi & her husband Mark have been in full time ministry for over 10 years. This would include youth pastoring, pastoring and church planting. Buffi’s heart is to encourage other women that they are not alone. She feels that just being real… herself and open allows her to connect with women in ways that encourage them. She says, "When we take off our 'masks and pretensions' we find that we are all very similar. Knowing this, we can bless one another through sharing our up and down life experiences."

Buffi began blogging to share their adoption journey and it has turned into so much more. She has been able to connect with other women and build friendships that she wouldn’t otherwise have. Buffi’s desire is that her blog will stir up the faith to step out and do what God is asking you to do…no matter how “out there” or “impossible” it may seem. God specializes in the impossibilities. Buffi prays that her blog will encourage and provoke joy as she shares with others each “Journey to Journey”.

What is the title of, and where can we find your blog?
The Youngs: From Journey to Journey

What is the topic or topics that you find yourself writing about the most?
I find myself writing mainly about life--Life with my husband, life with my children, life in ministry... The Lord really uses everyday experiences to cause us to grow in Him. Sharing my struggles and my victories and my thoughts in everyday life is my desire. Using each experience to point others to the Lord and encourage them in their Christian walk brings me great joy!

What or who prompted you to start blogging, and when did you start?
I began blogging as a way to journal our adoption journey. We started our blog in April of 2007. The Lord placed adoption on our hearts almost two years prior to that and we wanted to keep a record of all the things that God did so we could all look back and see His amazing hand on this process. We wanted the blog to bring Him the Glory!!

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
I have met SO many amazing women through blogging. Whether it is other adoptive moms or women who desire to live a healthier lifestyle, or women who just enjoy making friendships. I have met women from all over the world and each one of them have encouraged me and challenged me in tremendous ways!!

Awesome! Tell us about how you met some of them.
I’ve met most of them mainly through the adoption journey. Some of us were in it together… some of us were all waiting in the LONG process together… some of the ladies I have met were just interested in our journey. I believe a lot of them would like to adopt themselves and looked on as we went through the process. Since we’ve been back home for 7 months, I have just continued to blog and meet other ladies through other blogs. It’s really cool how you connect online!

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
I always have my heart open each day. I NEVER know what I might share on any given day. I pray that the Lord would show me a life experience to talk about. Sometimes I just know what to blog about… other times I have to really search in my day to find anything that would remotely be interesting. Once I have my thoughts for the day, I’m usually done within 30 to 45 minutes. (It depends on how many pictures I download).

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
I do not write for any other blogs or websites, but I am always open to any door the Lord wants to open.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
Hmmm... my hobbies or accomplishments? Well… it’s funny… you get married and have kids in hope to “find yourself”… and for me… I’ve sort of “lost myself” in the middle of life. But… if I look back… I have always been involved in musical theater… worship leading at church… and the arts. My heart is to worship. I LOVE music… and I love to lead others into the Presence of the Lord. His Spirit is So sweet!! I also love yard work… and I love to read. Overall, I desire to inspire excellence in others in whatever I am doing. I believe that we should always give the Lord our best… what is excellent!! I love to inspire!

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
My main struggle is getting the time to do it. I have to wait until the kids take a nap or go to bed to get good quality time. Also, making the decision on what to blog sometimes holds me up. Life can be mundane sometimes and finding things interesting can be a challenge.

What are some of your favorite blogs?

My favorite blogs are: (believe me…there are SO many more, but I just can’t list them all)

www.kimmiequan.blogspot.com
www.lovingourchinagirl.blogspot.com
www.walkerwalker.blogspot.com
holyexperience.blogspot.com

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
Yes, Proverbs11:25b “He who refreshes others… will himself be refreshed.” I totally believe that if we encourage others and pour ourselves… our true… unmasked selves out… for them and bless others with who we are… we will receive what we need. We will be refreshed ourselves!!

Is there anything that you'd like to add in closing?
Yes… through our honesty, through sharing real thoughts and emotions with our friends… with other women… we will connect with someone else who is going through similar things. In turn… we will be an encouragement to each other. Women guard their true self too much because of expectations and what others may or may not think. I want to encourage women to be real… to be themselves. They may just find out that there are a lot of other women out there who feel just like they do!!

"The Best Days of My Life"

Sarah is the mother of two girls, ages 6 and 2, and has been married for 11 ½ years to her husband, Chad.  She taught middle school Language Arts before she had her oldest daughter and now is blessed to stay at home with her children. She has a Bachelors degree in English and a Masters degree in Education, both from Biola University. She is working toward becoming a writer and seems to have experienced a “writing renaissance” after nearly ten years of writing nothing. She also works for her husband’s business part time from home.

She is honored to teach a women’s Bible study at her church and also volunteers in her Kindergartener’s classroom a few times each month.  She likes to keep in shape by running in any time that can be considered “spare” and posts to her blog daily.

Sarah's blog is The Best Days of My Life and it can be found at www.sarahmarkley.com

What is the topic or topics that you find yourself writing about the most?
I usually write about my children, home life, writing and running.  I try to see the depth in each day and try to catch moments with my children as they fly by.

Who or what prompted you to start blogging, and when did you start?
I began blogging 8 months ago in July of 2007 prompted by the blog of an amazing college friend, Lisa Leonard.  I also wrote when I was in school and had been silent for most of my married life.  Blogging turned out to be a perfect medium to hone a hibernating skill that I seemed to have and I love spending time each day writing my posts. The title of my blog refers the fact that as a mother of small children, my days are incredibly long, but my years seem incredibly short – they are flipping by on the calendar almost as I watch it.  So, the day I live today, is the best day of my life.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
I have met many women through blogging and many of them I met just through the “viral” nature of blogging and commenting on others’ blogs.  I’ve found women through the blogs of my real-life girlfriends and also through better know Christian blogs.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
I usually spend as little as 15 minutes up to one hour on any one post.  Some posts just come as I type, others are weeks in process (as I think something over and work it through in my mind.)

Do you write for any other blogs or websites?
I do not write for any other blogs or websites, although I would love to be a guest writer if the opportunity presented itself.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
As mentioned in my introduction, I am working on my writing skills and will be attending a Christian Writers Conference next month.  I run for both enjoyment and sanity, as well as for the health benefits and have ran in several half-marathons and have completed one marathon in the last 5 years.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
I haven’t really experienced any trouble in keeping my blog up.  I write daily and very rarely miss a day.  I usually post even while travelling.

What are some of your favorite blogs?
Daily I read “It’s the Little Things” www.lisaleonard.blogspot.com; Anne Jackson’s blog at www.flowerdust.net; Cindy Beall’s blog at www.cindybeall.com as well as many others.

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
I’ve had a life that has been changed dramatically by the Lord in the last 4 ½ years.  He has taught me to cherish each moment and live my days to the best that I can by His power and grace.  Psalm 65:11, “You crown the year with Your goodness; and Your paths drip with abundance” reminds me that God not only loves me, but he wants me to find His goodness in each day and in each year.  His grace and love are there, I just need to look for it!

"That Mom"

Kristen is THAT mom...you know the one. You've watched her children throw a fit in the grocery store and seen her with her kids lined up at the emergency room for stitches. She is a part of THAT family. Kristen blogs to assure moms they are not alone. If it can happen, she's probably already written about it. It also helps her deal with her topsy turvy world. She has been married to THAT man for nearly 14 years and is mom to three hilarious kids. She and her husband served for more than a decade as Youth and Children's Pastors. Kristen now spends her free time cleaning up vomit, volunteering at church and her kid's school and drinking sweet tea. She is addicted to the southern beverage, but is currently seeking help. One of Kristen's goals is to minister to moms, while making them laugh. It's good medicine.

Kristen offers her readers a realistic glimpse into her everyday life. She will blog about anything. She's not afraid to address her tight pants, the near-tragic accident with Super Glue and her one-year-old, or her confession about being a nag. She's currently working on a series of posts about her childhood hair trauma entitled, "Sincerely, 'fro me to you."

What is the title of, and where can we find your blog?
You can find me at: "We are THAT Family"

What is the topic or topics that you find yourself writing about the most?
My children offer me loads of material. I can write a whole post about a booger. I also enjoy writing about my mommy struggles and every once in awhile, I like to throw in a challenge to be a better wife, mom and Christian.

What or who prompted you to start blogging, and when did you start?
I was a frustrated rejected writer who in retaliation decided to 'publish myself.' I started blogging in October 2007.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
I've met some of the greatest moms thru blogging. For the first four months of my blog, I didn't open it up to comments. I just wrote for me. It opened a whole new world of friends when I starting trying to share my blog with more people.

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
I started keeping a little notepad to jot down ideas. Some posts are written spur-of-the-moment. But most are written the night before. I love writing, so this is my favorite part of blogging. Occasionally, I get lost in it and spend entirely to much time on it.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
Not yet. But after this spotlight, maybe.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
I enjoy reading and I have a passion for all things old. I get all twitchy when I see an old door with chippy paint or some old window. I love primitive decor. I also love and live for the weekends. I love it when my whole family can be together.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
I think there's a big learning curve for non-technical people in the blogging world. It took me forever to understand my rss feed and links. I'm getting it, but I'm baby steppin'.

What are some of your favorite blogs?
My favorite by far is Rocks in My Dryer. I find great inspiration there. I also am a big fan of Boo Mama.

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your
heart?

I try several times a week to end my posts with 'Food for the Soul.' The scripture that defines me and my blog is Genesis 21:16. Sarah is referring to her unexpected, but desired pregnancy:

"Sarah said, 'God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me."

Is there anything that you'd like to add in closing?
I think there is a fine line between being funny and being crass. I try very hard to make light of real situations, but maintain integrity. I think that's important in our sinful world. But don't be afraid to laugh, especially at yourself.

"Through the Storms..."

Jennifer is a 45-year-old "young lady", who is thankful for the opportunity to live everyday that God has blessed her with, and isn't the least bit ashamed to admit her age. She has been a member of the highest royal family since she was 9 years old. Her Father is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. She has been married to her wonderful husband, Roger, for 17 years. They have 4 wonderful children together and a precious grandson. Their blended family of 4 ranges in ages from 13 to 29 and is made up of 2 girls and 2 boys. She loves her family with all her heart, and they are the most precious earthly possession that she has. They aren't perfect, nor have they lived perfect lives, which is all part of the struggles and victories that she shares on her blog.

She works full-time for a OB/GYN from home, working four, 10-hour days to have Fridays off. She loves her job because, while she's able to earn a paycheck, she's home with her son when he is sick, and she's there for the holidays and summer vacation. She has the best of both worlds for someone who has to work.

All of this sounds wonderful, but she states that life has not always been smooth sailing. Contrary to that it has been an extremely rough terrain. They are living testimonies to the scripture in Genesis 50:20 "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done..." (NIV)

What is the title of, and where can we find your blog?
I blog at: "Through The Storms of Life"

What is the topic or topics that you find yourself writing about the most?
I want to share with everyone the struggles that I/we have faced in my/our life and the battles that have been won through Jesus Christ, in an ordinary Christian woman's life. Many times, we see/anticipate the attacks that the enemy launches at us but often times we get blindsided. I feel that there are a few situations that I/we have not faced, and those I pray that I never have to experience. The things that I want to share are situations, reactions, consequences and outcomes in my life. These may not be the same situations that you have dealt with, are dealing with, or have reacted to, but if you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the end is the same. He promises in Hebrews 13:5 "I will NEVER leave you nor forsake you" and He is in control....ALWAYS

God will lead me where He wants me to go when I am finished telling about our lives...if there is an end :)

What or who prompted you to start blogging, and when did you start?
My dear friend and pastor's wife, Dorinda, suggested it in February of this year. She knows the struggles that our family has faced over the years and the victories that God has given us in each situation. She said that people need to see the struggles and victories of an ordinary Christian because there are times that ministers cannot completely relate to a situation if they haven't lived through it or experienced it in some way. She said that just sharing my life's experiences is a ministry in itself. I prayed about it and then talked to Roger, then felt a complete peace and excitement about starting my blog.

Roger said that he believes that God has allowed us to go through the struggles and victories in our lives to groom us to help others. My prayer is to be able help others in one of the following ways: either to not make the same mistakes that we have, realize even in the midst of the worst storms that if they know Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they are not alone, or to know that someone can relate to what they are going through and offer them hope in a very negative world.

It is very hard to put yourself out there for the whole world to see your flaws, faults, mistakes and shortcomings but if it helps just one person, it is completely worth it.

Are there any other women that you've connected with through blogging?
I have met and conversed with Beloved Mama through my story and my son's recent terrible car wreck. She has been a mighty prayer warrior and has rallied other prayer warriors to pray for Brandon while he was in ICU and during his hospital stay. You can read about the extent of his injuries on my blog. It is only by the grace of God that he lived through that wreck and was released from the hospital in 9 days. He has a very long and painful road of recovery ahead but I believe that God is going to do a mighty work in his life because of it. Beloved Mama and I have emailed privately off of our blogs and I have shared things with her that I needed prayer for that I cannot discuss on my blog. I believe that God planted her in my life through my friends' blogs for the very situations that we are going through right now because God has anointed her as a Mighty Prayer Warrior!

How much thought and time do you generally put into each post?
I put a lot of thought, prayer and time into each entry because they deal with such personal issues and situations. They involve each member of my family at one time or another and my two stepdaughters and my oldest son each read my blog. I have to be very careful not to over step my boundaries, break any confidences, embarrass or offend any of my children or family members. I write them on my laptop away from my office, proofread it, edit it several times, add pictures and finally, have Roger read them before they are ever posted. I approach each subject with tenderness and caution. There are some other friends that were a vital part of my past, who after the forgiveness and restoration that only God can give, also read my blog. I believe that I talk about and deal with the sensitive issues that most people are not willing to discuss with anyone.

Are there any other websites or blogs that you write for?
No, blogging is all new to me but I love it! I just need more time in everyday to accomplish all that I want too.

What are some of your hobbies or accomplishments outside of blogging?
I love spending time with my family, going camping, traveling to some of our favorite spots, watching Tyler participate in football and track, accompanying Roger and Tyler to 5K runs (yes, I really want to get to the point where I can run with them. It has always been a dream of mine) and working in my yard--anything outdoors.

What struggle if any have you experienced with keeping your blog up?
It is very hard to find the time to post entries as often as I would like to. I want God to bless this calling and therefore, I have to find the perfect balance to truly honor Him. My goal is to post weekly entries of "My Love Story" until I have completed all the God wants me to share of my personal life, as well as, a few entries that are not about our family when I feel God laying something new on my heart.

What are some of your favorite blogs?
Of course, my favorites are my wonderful pastor's wife and dearest friend, Dorinda, our awesome Pastor Rusty, my other dear friend and our associate pastor's wife, Laurie, and my new bloggy sister, Beloved Mama .

Can you leave us with a Bible verse that God has placed on your heart?
When I read this scripture, it puts my problems, trials and struggles into perspective:

Isaiah 40:12
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?

Is there anything that you'd like to add in closing?
Just remember that no matter what you are facing in your life, your Heavenly Father loves you so very much, He will make a way for you where there seems to be no way and if you hold to His unchanging hand...you will come "Through The Storms of Life" ...victorious, your faith will be greater and you will be stronger. Remember that the Word of God says that Satan is a liar, deceiver, thief and a LOSER!

Liar - John 8:44
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Deceiver - Ephesians 4:13-15
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Thief - John 10:10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

LOSER - Revelation 1:18
I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
