Christian Women Online

Our Mission ~ Our Team

Our Mission...

The purpose of Christian Women Online Magazine is to unite women of faith, regardless of our differing ages, our roles as women, or the signs that mark our church doors. We believe that one of the best ways to do this is to encourage each other in faith, by our spoken and written words. It is our hope that as we unite women in Christ, the young will glean wisdom from the old, one will gain strength from another, and together we'll shed light to the world.

"Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." ~ John 17:20-21

Our Team...

Darlene Schacht ~ Editor/Columnist

Candace Cameron Bure ~ Columnist

Many of us will remember Candace Cameron Bure from ABC's hit television series, Full House, where we affectionately knew her as "D.J. Tanner." With an acting career that started at the age of five, Candace appeared in commercials, prime-time hits, and critically acclaimed television movies, working with actors such as Sally Field and Tom Hanks.

After Candace married NHL star Valeri Bure, she put her career on ice for a while in order to stay home and raise a full house of her own. Happily married for over 10 years, this mother of three is playing a new role—one she wouldn’t trade for the world.

Devoted to her husband and children, she is a role model to young women everywhere. Candace’s testimony is one of growing up in Hollywood, while growing in faith with God.  Her passions include family, faith, and story time with her adorable audience of three.

The heart that Candace has for people is reflected in her everyday life as well as through her involvement in charities such as the Make a Wish and Starlight Foundations. With charisma that lights up a room, Candace shines light on hope, and reminds us that the role of wife and motherhood is one to be desired.

She is a speaker for various churches, colleges and outreach events, as well as a monthly columnist here at Christian Women Online Magazine, with her monthly column, "Candid Candace, The Q's & A's on Growing with God."

Bonnie Bruno ~ Columnist

Bonnie Bruno is a Pacific Northwest author who pursued her dream to write for publication on the day her firstborn started kindergarten. Married 34 years to her college sweetheart, she is Mom to two adult children and Grandma to a pair of precious granddaughters who help keep her heartstrings and her prayer life in shape.

A former computing columnist for Newsday, Bonnie has written articles, greeting cards, and stories for both the inspirational and general marketplace. Currently, she’s working on her fifteenth book--an inspirational book for adults: When God Steps In: Stories of Everyday Grace.

In addition to her writing, Bonnie’s love for the outdoors led her to specialize in landscape, macro, and black/white photography. A sampling of her Pacific Northwest photos are on display at the Oregon State Snowmobile Association website.

Bonnie and her husband Nick enjoy camping, gardening (except for weeds!), exploring regional pioneer history, and bragging about their grandkids.

Ann Voskamp ~ Columnist

Ann Voskamp is a homeschooling mother of six, whose ministry is the God-enthused geography curriculum, A Child’s Geography.

Ann is simply one lost-but-found pilgrim on The Way who has far from arrived. She and her flock of six desperately need Him to lead on through the wilderness towards home---else all is lost.

Ann and her best-friend/husband are happy to be “just plain ole farmers” in Ontario, Canada, raising corn, kids, and soybeans. As the Voskamp’s enjoy the little things of life, they find God in the every day--everyday.

Ann’s daily 'scratches in the dark' are found at her own site--the always inspiring, Holy Experience. She also contributes to the front porch gatherings at Choosing Home.

Laurel Wreath ~ Columnist

Laurel has a house full of boys--three to be exact, however, if you add her husband, the cat and the dog, masculinity runs rampant. Laurel lives in Florida and recently celebrated 13 years of marriage. She graduated from college with a communication degree.  She has been an in-home childcare provider, and a pre-school teacher. She is currently a part time office assistant, which allows her to spend time with the boys when they are out of school.  Reading is Laurel’s easiest, and sometimes only, method for getting away from it all.

Laurel is a devotional writer for Internet Café and Laced With Grace web-sites, and during her spare time you can find her on her blog at Laurel Wreath.

Melissa Michaels ~ Columnist

Melissa Michaels is a wife (going on 21 years now) and mom of three. She is also an interior design addict and owner of The Inspired Room™, an interior decorating consulting business in Portland, Oregon.

She is interested in creating comfortable, beautiful, and inspired surroundings to live in, rather than practicing traditional interior design, or following trends. For her it is more about the focus. She designs her life first, then she creates the rooms to complement that life, saying that "Life should inspire our home, and our home will inspire our life."

Creating a sense of authenticity about the ambience in her home is important to Melissa, because it is ambience that in turn supports the life she wants--a cozy, comfortable, curl up with a good book and a crackling fire kind of life.

Melissa has an old 1930’s eclectic English style, 4300 square foot house that they bought “As Is,” which really means, “in need of dire assistance!” With next to no money to spend and three children to care for, they ’ve learned the art of “creative concealment” among other inventive decorating techniques!

In addition to this monthly column, Melissa can be found writing and creating at her personal blog, The Inspired Room™
