Sometimes as I sit and pray the words flow out and my prayer goes on and on. It is kind of a funny thing when you think about it, since God already knows my whole life from its beginning to end, and knows my heart so completely that not one single word of prayer is required for Him to know its deepest desires. But He calls us to pray, and many times it is I who need my excessive outpouring of words to lay my heart before Him, so that I can see what is hidden deep down within. Other times though,
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said,
"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it." Mark 8:34-35
These words are such familiar words to many of us, so familiar, even too familiar that they can begin to lose their meaning, and their power.
“One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”
Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today
“I love you, LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:1-2
Do you ever find that when you are walking around, minding your own business and least expect it, God will speak to you? I have had an amazing week this week walking with the Lord. It has been far from easy, and definitely not uneventful, but God has spoken to me in
“Have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
