My friends and I dress up each year and go to pass out tracts, particularly the Million Dollar Bills.. One year my friend Chris dressed up as a vending machine made out of cardboard and he had a slot for the tracts to go, so people could take one. I think it would be very interesting to dress up as and ATM machine and let people take the Million Dollar Bill tracts found at www.livingwaters.com from my Vending Machine!

I personally respect any Christian who doesn't celebrate Halloween, but for me and my family I just think of it as a fun excuse to dress up in a goofy or cute costume and have a party. It's there every year whether we like it or not and why disappoint small children who just don't understand. All they understand is that they see cute princess and Spiderman costumes that there friends get to wear and they don't. They don't know what a pagan is and they certainly don't think of it as a celebration for the devil....they just want some candy and to be part of the fun.
As a parent, I believe in “picking your battles” and Halloween is just not a battle these days for us; as it goes along with Valentine’s day and the like. My advice….have FUN with your children and family – don’t be so steadfast in your persecution over a commercialized holiday that you loose site of what you want your kids to learn and know about Jesus. They will be resentful…. And you are actually teaching them more about the pagan origins of the Halloween that they otherwise wouldn’t have learned had you just dressed them up and taken them trick or treating!

Candace,
I couldn't agree with you more. After spending many years hiding from it, my husband and I came to the conclusion that it's all about what your motive is in doing things....

My kids like to dress up and go to visit the neighbors to receive candy.... It's fun..... There is no evil intent in their hearts. And doesn't God look on the intent of our hearts? That's what we feel anyways.

    Blessings,
Julie

My pastor preached a wonderful sermon this year on the subject of Halloween. His message said why should we let Satan have a "day of darkness" God created each and every day and we should celebrate each day as a gift from god, and as christians we have to take back Halloween and make it a christianly day! We have a fall festival at our church on Halloween night and everyone is encouraged to invite neighbors, friends and family and use it as a time to minister to those who may not know Christ. He said let your children dress up (of course in good costumes) and let them trick or treat they are kids and are not celebrating a "satan holiday" they only see it simply as I get to dress up and get candy. I agree with this sermon whole heartedly. As christians lets take Halloween back and celebrate it as another beautiful day as a gift from God!
